I am thrilled to introduce the Autumn 2024 edition of The Script, showcasing the remarkable advancements and initiatives within the Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. This issue highlights our commitment to excellence, innovation, and community engagement.
At the heart of this edition is the inspiring story of Jay Mirtallo, a professor emeritus who has dedicated his career to advancing pharmacy practice. His journey from a student in the MS/HSPAL program to a leader in the field exemplifies the culture of excellence at Ohio State. Jay’s establishment of the Pharmacy Practice Advancement Fund underscores the importance of giving back and supporting future generations of pharmacists. We also delve into the impactful work of Myriam Shaw Ojeda, whose community outreach efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic highlight the unique role pharmacists play in public health. Her initiatives, from vaccination efforts to supporting victims of domestic violence, demonstrate how pharmacists can leverage their expertise to address broader social determinants of health and improve
community well-being.
The magazine also highlights how the Cheng Lab is redefining drug development and leveraging cutting-edge technologies. Our researchers are at the forefront of integrating artificial intelligence and computational tools to accelerate the discovery of new therapeutics, showcasing the transformative potential of technology in pharmaceutical sciences.
We celebrate the achievements of our students, who are taking on leadership roles and engaging in meaningful research. Their accomplishments reflect the dynamic and supportive environment at Ohio State, where students are encouraged to excel and make a difference. As you explore this edition of The Script, I hope you are inspired by the stories of innovation, dedication, and community engagement that define our College of Pharmacy. Together, we are advancing the field of pharmacy and making a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of our communities.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement.
