Pharmacotherapy Fellowship

This two-year fellowship program in pharmacotherapy will develop the trainee as an independent and collaborative researcher. Key areas of research interest include medication efficacy and safety, population health outcomes, health services research and pharmacovigilance. The trainee will gain experience in conceiving and designing studies; writing research proposals; collecting, analyzing and interpreting data; preparing and presenting papers at national/international meetings; and writing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

The fellows have opportunities to teach and complete a teaching certificate at the College of Pharmacy. Courses and/or workshops in pharmaceutical/health outcomes, health services research, grant writing, research methodology, biostatistics, and leadership, with or without a Master of Public Health or MS in translational pharmacology degree are available to fellows. Collaborative research opportunities exist with the Wexner Medical Center, OhioHealth and Nationwide Children’s Hospital, in Columbus, Ohio.

Milap C. Nahata is the Director of the Institute of Therapeutic Innovations and Outcomes and Professor Emeritus of Pharmacy at the College of Pharmacy, and Professor Emeritus of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the College of Medicine at Ohio State. He has authored over 650 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and authored or edited five books. Over the past 48 years, he has trained 40 fellows and over 200 residents and students, currently pursuing successful careers across the US and abroad. The research team includes Mohammad Alashqar, PharmD, and other interdisciplinary collaborators at Ohio State, locally, nationally and internationally.
