The annual Pills, Potions and Poisons Summer Camp provides high school students interested in biomedical science an overview of pharmacology and its relationship to health, disease and society.

 July 7-11, 2025

In the field of pharmacology, scientists study the interactions between drugs and the body and then apply what they have learned to the development of new drugs. Once a therapeutic drug becomes available, pharmacists work with patients and other health care professionals to ensure patients get the best outcomes from their medications.

Students enrolled in the PPP summer camp will learn through a variety of approaches, including hands-on experiments, field trips and projects. While we primarily explore careers in the pharmaceutical sciences (both clinical and research careers), the program is not designed strictly for students with an interest in pharmacy. Any student with an interest in biomedical science, including careers in pharmacy, medicine, dentistry, laboratory research, etc., is encouraged to apply. This program does not explore careers related to forensic science, engineering or the physical sciences.

The application for the summer 2025 offering of Pills, Potions and Poisons is now open. Please be sure to complete the student application and provide at least one teacher recommendation to be considered. The application and teacher recommendation are due on Friday, April 11, 2025.

Applicants can expect to receive a decision on their application status by the first weekend of May. If you have any questions regarding the program or application, please reach out to Dr. Katie Summers at summers.266@osu.edu.
