College of Pharmacy hosts fourth annual EdiPhy teaching week
The College of Pharmacy hosted its fourth annual teaching week, EdiPhy, August 11-13.
During the week, faculty and staff took part in many sessions, including "Advancing Pharmacy Education with AI: Year in Review" and "AI and Assessment," as well as activities like the "Teaching Lighting Round."
Winners of the 2026 Inspire Teaching Awards delivered presentations, ranging from redesigning the PLA exam development process to integrating a medication safety program.
The winners include:
- Kristy Jackson and Mary Higginbotham - Redesigned the PLA exam development process, resulting in a more reliable, valid and consistent summative assessment
- JD Bickel, Anna Gehres and Alexis Badgett - Created and implemented a mastery-based assessment in their lab course that reduced student stress and improved outcomes
- Kelsey Schmuhl, Molly Downing, Ruth Emptage, Kristin Casper, Katie Summers, and Junan Li - Integrated a medication safety program called GenRx Ambassadors longitudinally across the P1 year, improving medication safety knowledge among students
Additionally, David Matthews, PharmD, BCACP, assistant dean of PharmD studies, associate professor of practice and recipient of the 2026 Provost's Award for Distinguished Teaching by a Lecturer, delivered the keynote address.
The college also welcomed Gayle Brazeau, PhD, as a guest speaker. She presented a session titled, "Elements for Success in Publishing Your Scholarship of Teaching and Learning," highlighting the elements needed to advance success in publishing scholarship of teaching and learning.
