Pharmacy Buckeyes honored, celebrated at 2026 APhA Annual Meeting
Pharmacy leaders from across the country gathered in Los Angeles March 27-30 for the 2026 APhA Annual Meeting & Exposition. At this year's conference, College of Pharmacy faculty members E. Michael Murphy, PharmD, MBA, and Myriam Shaw Ojeda, PharmD, earned awards for their exemplary work.
Dr. Murphy, assistant professor of clinical pharmacy, received the Albert B. Prescott Leadership Award for his visionary leadership in pharmacy policy, his commitment to developing the next generation of advocates and his data-driven work to expand patient access to pharmacist-provided care.
Dr. Shaw Ojeda, assistant professor of pharmacy practice, received the 2026 Distinguished New Practitioner Award. This award is given to a pharmacist within their first five years of graduation for distinctive achievements in mentorship, service and commitment to the profession.
On the second day of the conference, Ohio State PharmD students presented during the Walking Poster Tour. Lyuba Benin (P3) presented her poster titled, "Point for Change: Bridging Patient Care and Advocacy in Student-Led Point of Care Testing (POCT) Events in the Greater Columbus Community." Lyann Trinh (P4) presented her poster titled, "Impact of an Onboarding Program on First-Year Pharmacy Students' Confidence Providing Care at a Free Clinic."
Later that evening, Dean Deanna L. Kroetz, PhD, BS Pharm '85, held her annual Alumni and Friends Reception at 33 Taps in downtown Los Angeles. Alumni and friends gathered to socialize, network and celebrate successes.
