Myriam Shaw Ojeda, PharmD, MPH

Dr. Myriam Shaw Ojeda, PharmD, MPH, is an assistant professor of clinical pharmacy in the Division of Pharmacy Practice and Science at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy and serves as director of pharmacy extension and public health initiatives for the Ohio Pharmacists Association. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Cedarville University School of Pharmacy and a Master of Public Health degree from The Ohio State University College of Public Health. She completed a postgraduate Fellowship in Policy and Innovation with the Ohio Pharmacists Association, where she developed a strong interest in public health and the ways pharmacists can help improve health outcomes across communities.

Throughout her career, Dr. Shaw Ojeda has focused on expanding the role of pharmacists as accessible members of the health care and public health workforce. Her work spans rural health, immunization and vaccine communication, nicotine use disorder and practice advancement. She has led and collaborated on initiatives supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Institute of Food and Agriculture, the Ohio Department of Health and private-sector partners.

Dr. Shaw Ojeda currently helps lead Ohio's Rural Health Transformation Pharmacy Initiative, a statewide effort to strengthen pharmacy infrastructure and expand access to pharmacist-provided services in rural communities. Her work has also included leading pharmacy-focused vaccine education programs through OSU Extension, developing workforce education related to nicotine use disorder, supporting community pharmacy implementation projects and advancing pharmacist engagement in public health and advocacy.

In addition to her programmatic work, Dr. Shaw Ojeda teaches pharmacy students and other learners and conducts practice-based research examining public perceptions of pharmacists, health communication and opportunities to expand access to care.

Her contributions to pharmacy practice, education and public health have been recognized through honors including the Ohio Pharmacists Association Under 40 Award, the BuckIPE Interprofessional Teaching Award and the American Pharmacists Association Distinguished New Practitioner Award.
