This program has turned peers and mentors into a family for me. The graduate student community and advisors always support my well-being and success.

As someone who calls Columbus home, I love that I was able to help my community get vaccinated and stay safe through our Community Health Service (CHS) requirement.

I’ve not only developed my lab skills as a synthetic chemist, but I’ve had opportunities to teach in lecture and laboratory settings. I would not be the chemist and teacher I am today without these opportunities.

During my PhD program, the people I met challenged me academically, but also encouraged me and reminded me of how important it is to have fun along the way.

Ohio State has so many resources, networks, and opportunities available, but the key difference is that the people connecting you to them are truly invested in your success.

My mentors were nothing but supportive of my graduate studies. Their investment in my success allowed me to published peer-reviewed research, present at national conferences, and even pursue my own research curiosities through workshops.

My mentors have always been there to advise and advocate for me. They’ve created opportunities that I would not have had anywhere else. As a faculty member, I feel a strong sense of purpose in serving as a mentor for future generations of students and paying it forward so that they feel the connection to Ohio State that I have.
