Milap Nahata recognized for lifetime of contribution to profession
Milap Nahata, MS, PharmD, was named the recipient of the 2018 American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Nahata received the award at AACP’s annual meeting in Boston, MA on July 22, 2018.
College of Pharmacy appoints Timothy Ulbrich as MS/HSPA graduate program specialization director
Timothy Ulbrich, PharmD, RPh, was selected as director of the Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Science – Health-System Pharmacy Administration (MS/HSPA) graduate program specialization. Ulbrich’s appointment began on November 1, 2018 and is shared with The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The hire resulted from Jay Mirtallo’s retirement from the position on June 30, 2018.
Nicole Kwiek, PhD, appointed assistant dean of undergraduate studies
Effective July 1, 2018, Dr. Nicole Kwiek was appointed Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies in the College of Pharmacy. This appointment is for a four year period and is subject to annual review.
Future service dog receives special training at College of Pharmacy
No, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you – that was a dog walking past you on the first floor of Parks Hall. But don’t worry, the dogs that you may sometimes see in the building are here studying, just like our students!
Undergraduate student spends summer at St. Jude working to end cancer
While some students took a break from their studies over the summer, Reid Palumbo, a second year Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BSPS) and pre-med student, headed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Palumbo is one of 50 students who were selected to spend 11-weeks at the hospital as a part of the prestigious Pediatric Oncology Education (POE) internship program.

Rutvik Joshi, PharmD, a 2018 pharmacy graduate, was named the college’s recipient of the Stephen W. Birdwell Student Award and the Faculty Award for Outstanding Graduating PharmD Student.
Five College of Pharmacy students selected for Land Grant Opportunity Scholarships
Five first-year students in the College of Pharmacy were selected to receive Land Grant Opportunity Scholarships (LGOS). The scholarship is part of President Michael Drake’s Access and Affordability initiative, and provides a full cost of attendance scholarship to 176 Ohio residents for up to eight full-time terms.
13th Annual Research Day celebrates expansive research in the college
The college held its 13th annual Research Day on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the Drake Union to celebrate innovative research in the college. Research Day provides faculty, staff and students the opportunity to present their research projects and findings and network with other potential collaborators.
Graduate student receives prestigious national fellowship
Robert “Bo” Tokarski, a third year PhD student at the College of Pharmacy, received an American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (AFPE) Pre-Doctoral Research Fellowship in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Outstanding alumnus Clarence Archer honored with Lifetime Achievement Award
Alumnus Clarence Archer received the college’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for his accomplishments and dedication to the practice of pharmacy. Archer is one of only six alumni of the college that has been recognized with this award.
