WIMS 2026 Fall Speaker: Stephen Starring Grant

Widening Impact in Medicine and Science (WIMS) in the College of Medicine (COM) will host New York Times bestselling author Stephen Starring Grant on Tuesday, November 17, from 12-1 p.m. in 400 Hamilton Hall and virtually. The in-person keynote is open to all COM faculty. The virtual option is open to postdocs, trainees, staff and other units.

Join the COM for an engaging presentation titled "Resilience: How to Fall Apart in the Right Direction" on resilience, reinvention and finding opportunity in life's most challenging transitions. Drawing on his journey from corporate executive to USPS letter carrier and his expertise as a consumer psychologist, Grant will explore post-traumatic growth, the psychological processes behind resilience and career transitions and how these insights can help healthcare professionals navigate personal and professional challenges.

Attendees will leave with practical strategies for navigating change, leveraging life experience as a strength and building resilience for the second half of life.
