Remembering Maryann Kennedy ’78

Alumna Maryann Kennedy, BS Pharm ’78, passed away on Jan. 21, 2026. A longtime supporter of the College of Pharmacy, Kennedy served on the Pharmacy Alumni Society Board, the Dean’s Corporate Council and the college’s Time and Change Campaign Committee. She mentored students for decades and interviewed many applicants to the PharmD program. She also served two terms on the university’s Foundation Board, representing the college at the highest levels of university leadership.

Kennedy and her husband, Larry, were generous benefactors whose support advanced learning spaces, student scholarships and other college priorities. Their capstone gift created the Maryann Z. and Larry Kennedy Endowed Chair in Drug Discovery, only the fifth endowed chair or professorship in the college’s history.

A past recipient of the college’s Distinguished Alumni Award and Lifetime Achievement Award, Kennedy was also an OSU Oval Society member, President’s Club life member and an active supporter of student and alumni programs. She especially enjoyed attending Buckeye football games with her husband. 

Kennedy's contributions to the college and the profession were significant, and she will be missed by many.
