PharmD students win first place in ASHP National Clinical Skills Competition
Jen Groves and Kaylee Clark, student pharmacists at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy, earned first place at the 30th Annual American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) National Clinical Skills Competition, held during the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The annual competition challenges student pharmacists to analyze complex patient cases and recommend appropriate treatments—skills essential for their future practice. This year’s event featured teams from 128 schools and colleges of pharmacy nationwide.
Groves and Clark advanced through a rigorous written case study on December 6 and presented their recommendations before a panel of judges and a live audience on December 7. As national champions, each received a $500 cash award, a three-year subscription to Lexi-Complete, gift cards and an ASHP self-assessment resource. The College of Pharmacy will also receive a trophy recognizing this achievement.
Sponsored by the ASHP Foundation with support from Wolters Kluwer and McGraw Hill, the competition provides an interactive platform for students to showcase clinical expertise and represent their institutions at the highest level.
