Participants make a splash at 11th Annual Pharmathon 5K

May 5, 2026

The 11th Annual College of Pharmacy Alumni Society Pharmathon 5K was held on April 26. This family-friendly event on Ohio State's campus promotes health and wellness and provides education on prescription drug misuse and prevention. The funds raised from this event are used to promote awareness and education on safe medication-taking practices through the College of Pharmacy Generation Rx program.

Before the 5K commenced, individuals were invited to partake in pre-race activities held at the RPAC. Booths were set up with fun, pharmacy-related games for all ages. Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about medication safety through each booth and get their medication safety "passport" stamped to enter to win prizes.

The first race of the day was the Kids Fun Run with Brutus. This short race lets children run alongside Brutus Buckeye to promote health and wellness. Following the kids' run, the 5K and 1-mile events began, with faculty, staff, alumni and friends joining the race.

Once the races wrapped up, a raffle drawing was held where participants won prizes such as gift baskets, official merchandise from Ohio State and more. Additionally, all participants received a race medal.

This event was made possible by official Pharmathon sponsors such as The Kaiser Family, Maryann '72 & Larry Kennedy; Walgreens; Columbus Firefighters Foundation; Kaup Pharmacy; Lou Marcy; Generation Rx; Kroger; Karen and Matt Houser; Trusted Advice Team, Rob & Javonnie Mullins; Deanna Kroetz & Jeff Silverman and the Pharmacy Alumni Society.
