P2 Recognized with Ohio State 2024 Community Engaged Student Award
P2 Melanie Ruzga received on The Ohio State University's 2024 Community Engaged Student Awards.
This award recognizes graduate students demonstrating engaged scholarship that has positively impacted communities through research, scholarship and service.
"Melanie embodies the values of engaged scholarship by combining her attention to detail with conducting research and her passion for intentional community service," Assistant Professor Dr. Myriam Shaw Ojeda wrote in her nomination letter.
During her time as a PharmD candidate, Melanie has stepped into the role of vaccine educator, designing outreach as a student volunteer for the EXCITE Vaccine with Confidence Grant.
She has also led student-supported point-of-care testing (POCT) and conducted research on its impact on underserved populations.
