Ohio State chapter places fourth in Value of Industry Pharmacists (VIP) Case Competition
The Industry Pharmacists Organization recently announced that for the first time, The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy has placed in the Value of Industry Pharmacists (VIP) Case Competition. This year's team earned 4th place out of the 72 chapters that participated in the competition.
This virtual competition provides students the opportunity to work collectively as a team, delegating 1-2 student representatives. Participants began working on their projects in October and submitted them in February for review. This year, P3 student Elena Marchese served as competition lead and was accompanied by fellow P3 student and IPHO chapter president Trapper Crain.
The remainder of the team was composed of PharmD students from across the board, including Dhairy Patel, Mari Lynn, Marisa Mulye, Anirudh Banda, Elsa Mendel, Katherine Boylin, Anushree Jakate, Lorenzo Ventresca, Anitha Natarajan, Drew Anderson, Avery Bryant, Dominic Pellicciotti, Jasmine Muhando, Rocco Shasho, Billal Khan, Maya Simpson, Jill Ntim, Elle Esmaeilzadeh and Mariam Gharraph.
This prestigious event allows pharmacy students to showcase a comprehensive drug development plan for a theoretical new drug. Students involved in the competition compete on a national level.
The goal of this competition is to provide chapter team contributors with a professional development competition that results in participants’ increased knowledge of key industry functional areas required to bring a new product to market and the vital role that pharmacists play within these functions.
