Maelyn Cheng and Shivani Rajesh selected as 2025-26 Columbus-Athens Schweitzer Fellows
Rising P3 students Maelyn Cheng and Shivani Rajesh have been selected as 2025-2026 Columbus-Athens Schweitzer Fellows.
The Schweitzer Fellows Program supports and trains emerging health-focused graduate and professional students in creating and carrying out service projects to address unmet community needs. The Fellows conduct a one-year community service project of at least 200 service hours, with at least 100 hours involving direct client contact.
Shivani and Maelyn are partnering with Riverview International Center to address and mitigate challenges faced by new immigrants to the Columbus area, with a special focus on language, costs and health education. Accessibility is an important aspect of positive health outcomes, especially for vulnerable populations such as new immigrants. Shivani and Maelyn will work towards helping these folks navigate the complexities of the US healthcare system by answering any healthcare related queries for folks who walk into the center and triaging them to alternate services as needed.
