Kelsey Schmuhl, PharmD '17, BCACP, BS '12, Clinical Assistant Professor, will be redirecting her efforts to lead harm reduction and prevention education at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. These efforts will increase student engagement and elevate the role of pharmacists in harm reduction and prevention.
Dr. Schmuhl brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to this area of practice. In addition to her clinical practices in substance use disorder with Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University Department of Internal Medicine, her responsibilities will now include leadership for several college programs:
- As Director of Generation Rx, Dr. Schmuhl will focus on the program’s long-term sustainability, with special attention to outreach for teens and older adults and increased student engagement
- She will expand harm reduction efforts as the college’s liaison to the national Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Drug Prevention and Recovery (HECAOD)
- She will continue leading the Interprofessional Program on Opioid Use Disorder, broadening its reach across Ohio and nationally
Dr. Schmuhl’s leadership will bring about exploration of new opportunities in harm reduction and prevention, supporting student research, partnering with campus units to assess and implement harm reduction needs, and disseminating programming across the state through collaboration with OSU Extension in alignment with our college’s strategic plan.
