Dr. Mohammad Alashqar recieves 2026 AACP Critical Care Practice and Research Network Resident/Fellow Travel Award

Mohammad Alashqar, PharmD, BCCP, CACP, postdoctoral pharmacotherapy research fellow at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy, received the 2026 Critical Care Practice and Research Network Resident/Fellow Travel Award from the Critical Care Practice and Research Network of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP). 

This competitive national award recognizes pharmacy residents and fellows whose research advances critical care practice. Recipients will present their findings at the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Annual Meeting this October.

The award honors his project, “Cost-Effectiveness of Pharmacogenetics-Guided Warfarin Dosing Versus Standard Clinical Dosing for Patients Receiving a Durable Left Ventricular Assist Device.”

The study used a lifetime Markov model to evaluate whether warfarin dosing guided by CYP2C9 and VKORC1 genotypes is more cost-effective than standard clinical dosing. Results showed that pharmacogenetics-guided dosing improved health outcomes while reducing lifetime costs for patients receiving a durable left ventricular assist device (LVAD).
