Division of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy hosts annual division picnic

The Division of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy hosted its annual end-of-summer picnic on August 19. Students, faculty and staff gathered outside the Women's Field House to play games, eat barbecue and connect with one another. 

Awards were given to the following students:

The Robert W. and Susan Y. Brueggemeier Scholarship Fund in Medicinal Chemistry

Recipients: Chong Lu and Nathan Ezzone

This award provides scholarship for graduate students enrolled in the College of Pharmacy studying in the Division of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy seeking a degree in medicinal chemistry, with an emphasis in drug discovery, medicinal chemistry and biochemistry.

The Raymond W. Doskotch Graduate Fellowship Fund in Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy and The Donald T. Witiak Graduate Student Award Fund in Medicinal Chemistry (combined to be the Doskotch & Witiak Award)

Recipients: German Peralta Camacho

Doskotch Award: Provides funds for a graduate student in the Division of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy whose research emphasizes natural product chemistry (isolation, structure,  elucidation, chemical and/or biological modification, biosynthesis).

Witiak Award: Recognizes graduate student achievement in cancer research in the Division of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, typically in synthetic medicinal chemistry.

Larry Robertson Endowed Fund and the Dr. Robert Curley Fund (combined to be the Robertson & Curly Award)

Recipients: Akash Haria, Emmanuel Ayim, Hsuan-Yu Lai, Jake Tomkovicz and Jayce Liu

The Albert H. Soloway Graduate Endowed Fund in Pharmacy and Cancer Research

Recipients: Rajashree Pawar and Vivian Rivera

Supports an annual award to a graduate student who is engaged in cancer research projects in the Division of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy.
