College of Pharmacy Residency Program celebrates 30 years
On October 9, during Homecoming Weekend, The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy Residency Program celebrated its 30th anniversary.
From 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the college held a Residency Anniversary Celebration Symposium at the Vrable Center for Pharmacy Excellence. Attendees learned about the history of the college’s residency program, including the innovative practice sites that were developed, pioneering practitioners and the key partnerships that led to our national recognition as leaders in community-based practice, from the Founding Residency Program Director of the Ambulatory and Community Care Residency Program and Faculty Emerita, Marialice Bennett.
Keynote speaker, Anne Burns, president of Pharmacy Horizons, LLC and former vice president of Professional Affairs at the American Pharmacists Association, provided a session, “A Profession in Motion, Celebrating Ohio State Pharmacy Excellence and Shaping What’s Next,” which highlighted the intersections of national progress in practice advancement and the role Ohio State had in transforming patient care over the last three decades. Attendees also heard from change agents in practice with clinical topic updates and continuing education sessions on advocacy and Ohio pharmacy law.
The celebration continued into the evening as alumni reconnected during the All-Alumni Welcome Social at Hofbräuhaus Columbus. Throughout the event, alumni across graduation years shared memories, celebrated achievements and enjoyed each other's company.
Immediately following the social was the 30th Anniversary Dinner Celebration at the Grand Event Center at Grandview Yard. This gathering served as both a reflection of the program's rich history and a celebration of its future.
