College of Pharmacy largely represented at the 2026 ASPET annual meeting
Faculty and students from The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy presented 14 abstracts at this year's American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) annual meeting, held May 17-20 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
This event highlights innovative science in pharmacology and experimental therapeutics. Categories of abstracts ranged from Cancer Pharmacology and Pharmacology Education to Neuropharmacology and Molecular Pharmacology.
Nicholas Denton, PhD, senior lecturer in the Division of Pharmacy Education and Innovation, led a Career Connections talk titled "Aligning the three pillars: maintaining sanity when furthering research, teaching, and service".
Additionally, Dr. Denton presented the work of the College of Pharmacy's AI Task Force in the Daily Datablitz, a three-minute oral presentation of research. His presentation was titled, "From Exploration to Implementation: A Backward Design Approach to Preparing Future Pharmacologists for an AI-Enabled Future."
Also participating in their own Daily Datablitz was Class of 2027 PhD candidate Mike Boeckman. This year, Boeckman presented, "A Cardiac-Specific Humanized Mouse Model to Evaluate the Disposition of OCT3 Substrates."
As the annual meeting came to a close, an award ceremony was held. Class of 2027 PhD candidate Xinyu Zhao won 3rd place in the Division of Cancer Pharmacology poster competition. Zhao presented her research on circumventing drug resistance to DNA Topoisomerase II-targeting anti-cancer agents using CRISPR/Cas9/HDR gene editing.
