2026 Rising Suns Annual Charity Gala: Commending a pharmacy for the community, by the community

Rising Suns Non-profit Pharmacy held its annual Charity Gala on March 28 at Ohio University’s Nelson Commons from 6 to 11 p.m. The event served as a key fundraiser to help sustain operations and advance Rising Suns’ mission of providing free pharmaceutical care to patients in need. The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy supported the event as a platinum sponsor. At this year's event, over $20,000 was raised. 

Founded in 2019 by Sarah Adkins, RPh, PharmD ’10, BCACP, Rising Suns Pharmacy operates as a non-profit free pharmacy in Athens, Ohio, delivering safe and effective medications to patients throughout southeastern Ohio. To date, the organization has served more than 1,000 patients and provided more than $8 million in medication savings. 

The pharmacy also serves as an experiential site for Ohio State PharmD students and hosted 15 students participating in the Rural Appalachian Pharmacy Service-Learning course during autumn break.
