Robert Weber receives Ohio Health-System Pharmacy Walter M. Frazier Award
Robert Weber, RPh, PharmD, MS, BCPS, FASHP, director of the MS in Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership program, was selected to receive the 2023 Ohio Health System Pharmacy (OSHP) Walter M. Frazier Award. Dr. Weber will receive the award at the OSHP Annual Meeting and Residency Showcase on Oct. 27.
The Walter M. Frazier Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated sustained exemplary service in health-system and community service.
As a former chief pharmacy officer at two large academic medical centers, Dr. Weber focuses on changing pharmacy practice through programs that establish patient-centered roles for pharmacists to improve the safety and efficiency of medication use. Dr. Weber was chief pharmacy officer at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center and assistant dean of the College of Pharmacy from 2010-2022. Prior to that, he was chief pharmacy officer and department chair at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Dr. Weber has three degrees from Ohio State and has held various clinical and leadership positions. He has published 140 peer-reviewed papers, 17 book chapters, two books and other publications related to medication safety and hospital pharmacy practice. He is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist and an ASHP Fellow.
Dr. Weber's peers recognized him with a variety of awards, most notably Ohio State's 2007 Clifton J. Latiolais Award from the College of Pharmacy.
Dr. Weber served as a local, regional and national advocate for the COVID-19 vaccines through his work in presenting virtual education sessions, writing commentaries, setting up mass vaccination sites and administering vaccines.
