PharmD student elected to APhA-ASP leadership team

Allyson Beechy, a second year PharmD student at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy, was elected to serve as the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) 2018-2019 Midyear Regional Meeting Coordinator. Beechy was elected by her peers at the APhA-ASP Region 4 Midyear Regional Meeting on November 11 in Madison, Wisconsin.

In her role, Beechy will help forward the APhA-ASP mission to be the collective voice of student pharmacists, provide for professional growth, improve patient care and envision and advance the future of pharmacy. Central to her duties as the Midyear Regional Meeting Coordinator is assisting APhA staff in planning and executing the 2019 APhA-ASP Midyear Regional Meeting, where student pharmacists can network with peers and potential employers, celebrate individual and chapter accomplishments and enhance their leadership skills. She will also represent all Region 4 APhA-ASP members, spanning 23 schools of pharmacy throughout the Midwest, at the 2019 APhA Annual Meeting and Exposition in Seattle, Washington, as well as at the 2019 APhA-ASP Summer Leadership Institute in Washington, D.C.

Beechy graduated from The Ohio State University’s Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences program in 2017, and has a strong background in event planning, communication and business development. Her election to the Midyear Regional Meeting Coordinator position continues the College of Pharmacy’s history of leadership within the APhA-ASP organization.
