The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy is pleased to announce that Timothy Ulbrich, PharmD, RPh, has been selected as director of the Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Science – Health-System Pharmacy Administration (MS/HSPA) graduate program specialization. Ulbrich’s appointment will begin on November 1, 2018 and is shared with The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The hire resulted from Jay Mirtallo’s retirement from the position on June 30, 2018.
As director of the MS/HSPA program, Ulbrich will be responsible for the coordination and administration of the program with its residency partners, as well as student recruitment, teaching and advising student major projects, and serving as an advisor and advocate for medical center residents, assuring a tight integration between the graduate students’ residency training and classroom experiences.
Ulbrich’s primary areas of expertise and research include personal finance for pharmacy professionals, residency training and education, teaching and learning curricula and evaluation of advanced patient care services in community pharmacy practice.
Ulbrich previously served as a professor of pharmacy practice and associate dean of student success at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) College of Pharmacy in Rootstown, OH. In his positions at NEOMED, Ulbrich directed practice advancement initiatives and led workforce development initiatives, including pharmacy residency educational programs. He has served on a variety of pharmacy committees such as the Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) Board of Trustees and was founder of OPA’s New Practitioner eXperience (2013).
The recipient of numerous awards for teaching, Ulbrich was named the most influential professor/faculty by NEOMED’s graduating class for four consecutive years (2013-2016). He was also recognized with the 2014 OPA Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award and an Ohio Magazine Excellence Honoree in 2013 and 2015.
An alumnus of Ohio State, Ulbrich completed a PGY1 community pharmacy residency from the College of Pharmacy in 2009. He completed his PharmD at Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy.
