Career Exploration: A Monthly Speaker Series feat. Pamela Boner, PhD ’97

Career Exploration: A Monthly Speaker Series invites College of Pharmacy alumni back to the college throughout this school year to talk to current students about their current careers and the path they took to get there. Lunch is provided along with the initial presentation followed by open discussion.

Lunch will be provided. Additionally, this event is eligible to count as a co-curricular experience.

Pamela Boner, PhD ’97, is a senior principal scientist at Zoetis. Pam is passionate about human food
safety and animal health. Pam has a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Purdue University. She worked as a pharmacist for several years in hospital and retail pharmacy. Pam then obtained a doctorate in Medicinal Chemistry specializing in natural products from the Ohio State University. She credits her professional success to the education that she received at both Purdue and Ohio State.

Pam started her research career at a contract research company and became an expert in animal heath
analytical methods. She has been at Zoetis (formerly Pfizer animal health) for the last 18 years, specializing in human food safety (food animals) and pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics. Pam has recently transitioned into early discovery work developing monoclonal antibodies for diseases in companion animals (cats, dogs, horses).

Pam has led the residue and kinetic expert working group for the animal health institute (AHI). She has served as a residue expert for the veterinary international committee for harmonization (VICH) developing residue guidelines accepted internationally.

Pam has fulfilled a lifelong dream of living on the water. She and her husband reside on gull lake in
Richland, Michigan. When not working, she can be found skiing (both water and snow) or sewing.
