Career Exploration: A Monthly Speaker Series invites College of Pharmacy alumni back to the college throughout this school year to talk to current students about their current careers and the path they took to get there.
Christina Barnes, PharmD, BS '97, has nearly 30 years of experience in pharmacy across diverse practice settings. After beginning her career in independent community pharmacy, she earned her PharmD from the University of Cincinnati and helped pioneer ambulatory pharmacy services, including anticoagulation and disease state management clinics.
Since 2005, Dr. Barnes has served as Chief Pharmacy Officer at Avita Health System, leading the growth of pharmacy services across a multi-hospital enterprise in rural Ohio. Under her leadership, Avita has expanded community access to care through innovative programs, including a nationally recognized Medication Access Program and Drug Repository Program.
Dr. Barnes received The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy Distinguished Alumni Award in 2020 and was inducted into The Ohio State University at Mansfield Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame in 2018.
