College Business Office

The College Business Office (CBO) is a service-focused unit responsible for budgeting, fiscal operations, fiscal strategy, procurement, data analysis, human resources, physical facilities, contract services and information technology.

The CBO reaches all areas of the college and aims to provide top-quality service to all our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests.

Fiscal Operations

The CBO oversees the financial operations and health of the college, including annual budgeted, general fund allocations, forecasting, and expenditures. The CBO is responsible for financial reporting within the college and partners with our principal investigators to manage the finances on sponsored research.

Procurement

The CBO is responsible for all procurement and purchasing for the college including review, approval and compliance to university policy. All purchasing for the college is done through the Workday System or by using one of the college Pcards. Procurement assistance is available from the designated administrative associate in each division or unit.

Travel 

University business travel is requested through the Workday system and the CBO is responsible for review and approval of spend authorizations (travel requests). Spend authorizations must be submitted and approved prior to scheduled travel and must include all required documentation. Airline tickets for business travel must be purchased through the university’s travel partner Corporate Travel Planners. Travel assistance is available from the designated administrative associate in each division or unit.

Data Analytics 

The CBO maintains in-house data analytics capabilities to maximize the usefulness of college data. These capabilities include database design and maintenance, data interpretation and visualization, and data reporting. CBO data analytics are primarily used for college-wide initiatives but can be available for special projects.

Human Resources

The CBO partners with the university’s Office of Human Resources (OHR) to provide HR services to college faculty and staff. The HR team assigned to the college include our Human Resources Business Partner and two Human Resource Consultants. They are available to assist the faculty and staff directly or to engage them with the appropriate resource at OHR.

Facilities 

The college has approximately 98,000 square feet of assignable space in Parks Hall and the Riffe Building. The CBO is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all assigned student, teaching, research, and office spaces.

Contract Services 

Signature authority is tightly controlled at the university and the CBO is responsible for contract and MOU compliance for the college. All agreements, contract, and/or MOUs, must go through the CBO for execution by appropriate university signators.
