July 7, 2025

Assistant professor Kwangwoon “Jon” Lee, PhD, joined the College of Pharmacy this summer.

Dr. Lee comes to us with an impressive background in biochemistry and chemical biology. He earned his Ph.D. from the City University of New York, where he studied calcium/calmodulin-dependent activation of eukaryotic elongation factor 2 kinase. Most recently, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in the Cole Lab, where his innovative work focused on regulation of the LSD1 histone demethylase. His research has already made a significant impact in the fields of chromatin biology and epigenetics, with recent publications in Nature Chemical Biology, Molecular Cell, and Cell Reports. His research program at OSU will focus on the development of inhibitors and sensors of functions of epigenetic regulatory proteins involved in cancer.

Dr. Lee also brings a strong commitment to mentorship and teaching. We are excited to see how his expertise will enrich our research community and inspire future scientists at Ohio State.
