This September, Debbie Goff, PharmD, FCCP, an associate professor of pharmacy practice and an infectious disease specialist and a clinical pharmacist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, spoke at the inaugural Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) Workshop during the 79th FIP World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Abu Dhabi. This workshop brought together pharmacy leaders, students, academics and technicians to discuss the importance and improvement of AMS services.

Dr. Goff focused her presentation on the barriers that prevent successful implementation of AMS and emphasized the idea that these barriers should not hold community and hospital settings from enacting AMS and working toward change. Goff concluded her presentation by sharing that pharmacists hold the crucial responsibilities of leading the improvement of patient care through AMS and using their voice to encourage others to enact change as well.
