Robert Kuhn '80 presents 2025 Nahata Distinguished Lecture

On March 5, Robert J. Kuhn, BA, BS '80, PharmD, FACCP, FASHP, FPPA, FKSHP, presented his 2025 Milap Nahata Distinguished Lecture titled, "The Privilege of Being A Pharmacist."

Dr. Robert Kuhn is currently Professor Emeritus of Pharmacy Practice and Science at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. He holds a joint appointment, in the department of Pediatrics, is a pediatric clinical specialist at Kentucky Children’s Hospital and has worked as a member of the CF care team since 1985.

He received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Steubenville University and his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from The Ohio State University in 1980 and a PharmD degree at the University of Texas in 1984. He completed a Pediatric Pharmacotherapy Fellowship at Nationwide Children's Hospital and Ohio State before joining the faculty at UK in 1985.

Dr. Kuhn’s research and clinical practice have centered on pulmonary drug delivery and drug therapy in patients with cystic fibrosis. He has participated in many clinical trials of new drug therapies for patients over the last 40 years and helped develop and evaluate new therapies. He has nearly  100 publications and has helped organize pharmacists’ involvement in the care of patients with cystic fibrosis. He also served as resident program director for the PGY2 pediatric pharmacy residency at UK for thirty years and helped train forty specialty residents.

Dr. Kuhn has received several awards, including the Helms Award from PPA, the Paul Parker Award and Honorary Resident Status from the University of Kentucky Department of Pharmacy, Pharmacist of the Year from the Kentucky Society of Health System Pharmacy and the Bluegrass Pharmacist Association. In addition, Dr. Kuhn received an Outstanding Alumni Award from the Ohio State College of Pharmacy in 1981.
