Biography
First-year Academic Fellow Brittney Mize, PhD, obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Otterbein University in 2018 in addition to her AYA Life Science Ohio Teaching License in 2021. She obtained her PhD in Pharmaceutical Science under the supervision of Dr. James Fuchs at The Ohio State University in 2023. Her dissertation research focused on analog development and target identification of natural products with anti-ovarian cancer activity in addition to the synthetic design of novel CDK9 degraders.
She was awarded The Ohio State Presidential Fellowship in 2018 and has presented her research at several local and national conferences. In addition to her past focus on medicinal chemistry research, Brittney also completed her Inclusive Teaching Endorsement from the Drake Institute in 2022 and taught Organic Chemistry at Otterbein University from 2023-2024. Brittney’s current focus is on investigating and supporting chemical literacy among the College of Pharmacy undergraduate and PharmD populations.
