2009
An official partnership between The Ohio State University and Cardinal Health is cemented, greatly increasing the reach of Generation Rx.
2010
Generation Rx partners with the American Pharmacists Association (APhA-ASP) to help drive student pharmacists to educate their communities on safe medication practices, taking the program nationwide.
Generation Rx receives a $25,000 OSU Cares Award to develop the first train-the-trainer approach with OSU Extension.
The Generation Rx Champion Award was launched to recognize pharmacists who have worked to raise awareness of prescription drug misuse in their communities.
2012
The Generation Rx Lab opens at COSI and launches a suite of special programs, including national interactive video conferences and local field trips for K-12 schools.
2013
Dr. Kwiek offers the course “Generation Rx: The Science Behind Prescription Drug Abuse” on Coursera.
2014
Establishment of a new student organization, the Generation Rx Collaborative.
Generation Rx partners with Origo Branding company to create a new, consolidated brand and website, generationrx.org.
2016
The Ohio Governor’s office, the Ohio Department of Education, and the Ohio Attorney General’s office contact the Generation Rx team to request assistance with the rollout of House Bill 367, which mandated prescription opioid misuse awareness in K-12 schools.
2017
Generation Rx outreach efforts are recognized as the College of Pharmacy receives the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Lawrence C. Weaver Transformative Community Service Award.
Generation Rx partners with Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland to develop a medication safety patch program.
2018
Generation Rx receives the national Excellence in Community Partner Engagement Award from the Engagement Scholarship Consortium.
Generation Rx resources reach over 116,000 through the Cardinal Health Foundation’s Generation Rx Prescription Drug Misuse Prevention Education for Youth grant program.
2019
Generation Rx receives the Distinguished Community Engagement Award from Ohio State.
2020
Generation Rx develops and launches the pilot offering of “Generation Rx Ambassadors,” an online training platform for student pharmacists.
Generation Rx receives State Opioid Response (S.O.R.) funding from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services to support safe medication practices among vulnerable older adults.
2021
Generation Rx and 4-H partner to develop and launch the project book, “Medication Science and Safety,” which passes 4-H national peer review later that year.
Six fraternal organizations partner with Generation Rx to develop and launch a special version of the Generation Rx University Toolkit for F/S Life audiences.
2022
Generation Rx partners with AACP to promote the Ambassadors training to colleges of pharmacy nationwide.
Generation Rx celebrates 15-years.
