These programs provide the opportunity for selected students to complete both degree requirements within a shorter time frame than completing each degree separately.
Ohio State offers a variety of opportunities for students to complete a combined degree program. Students in the Doctor of Pharmacy program may combine their degree with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree or a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Students interested in these programs will need to apply and be admitted to both programs before being considered for the combined programs.
PharmD/MBA
Students interested in the PharmD/MBA will typically apply for the MBA component during their third year in the PharmD program. Students must be independently admitted to the college offering the degree they wish to pursue. The general curricular structure for this combined degree offering is as follows:

PharmD/PhD
Students interested in the PharmD/PhD are encouraged to pursue this option as early as possible, as coursework taken during the first year of the PharmD program could be used toward one’s PhD. Additionally, PharmD/PhD students will most likely work in research labs over the summer as a PhD student. Students should contact COP-GradProgram@osu.edu to learn more about the PhD component of the program.
MS Translational Pharmacology
The MS Translational Pharmacology program prepares graduates for careers in drug development as part of a research team. Students interested in the combined PharmD/MS degree should apply to the MS program as early as possible in their PharmD program. Applications received after completion the spring semester of a student’s P2 year may require additional semesters beyond the completion of the PharmD curriculum to complete the MS degree. Courses that are taken during the first two years of the PharmD program may be used toward the completion of the MS degree.
