Preparing for Fall Teaching & Learning Events
On Tuesday, August 3rd the OEIS team is offering three in-person sessions in the Riffe Classroom from 9 – 3 pm. Come to as many sessions as you would like! OEIS plans to record each session for review after the event. Read a bit about each session below:
Question Writing - 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Led by Dr. Justin Kullgren and Dr. Zach Woods, this workshop will provide an overview of guidelines for constructing effective multiple-choice questions and rationales. Faculty are invited to bring their exam questions and workshop them with peers so that they can gain practice in writing and revising effective questions.
Intermediate Echo 360 Training - 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The College of Pharmacy adopted Echo 360 as our lecture capture and hosting tool in 2019. Since then, the Echo 360 team has continued to make advancements in what their tool can do! In this virtual session, join OEIS team members and representatives from Echo 360 to learn more about the following engagement tools within the Echo 360 platform:
- Interactive Media: A type of media which allows for embedded polls/quizzes within your Echo 360 videos.
- Confusion flags: An engagement tool which allows students to mark which part of a lecture video is confusing to them.
- Video analytics: Provides the number of views, time watched, etc.
Effective Educational Videos - 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
What do you think has been most effective in educational or course videos that you have seen or used? In this workshop, learn about pedagogical and technical considerations for educational video production from the OEIS team. Additionally, the OEIS team will walk you through the development of your own educational video idea and how to get started.
