The Center for Clinical & Translational Science will host Laura Barnes, OD, PhD, to give an introductory presentation for Ohio State researchers who are interested in applying for funding from the US Department of Defense (DOD) for medical and/or human performance-oriented research initiatives.
The presentation will describe several DOD research organizations in the service branches that fund university-based research; provide an overview of DOD’s Congressionally-directed funding categories and why it is useful to know the funding source before writing a proposal; hints to find relevant DOD RFPs on grants.gov and sam.gov; and personal insights about how to prepare for meetings with DOD program managers, scientists, engineers.
Laura Barnes, OD, PhD, is the Department of Defense Research Specialist in the Research Development Office of the OSU Office of Research. Dr. Barnes worked for many years in various research related capacities for the Air Force Research Laboratory.
