Pharmacy Ambassadors

Recognizing new arrivals to the United States need some direction on how to access medicine and understand how pharmacies function, the Pharmacy Ambassadors program was first initiated in collaboration with community partners in 2013 to provide educational sessions that introduce newly resettled refugees in the central Columbus area the unfamiliar U.S. healthcare and pharmacy systems. The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy students arrange educational sessions to acclimate refugees to the U.S. health-care system and guide their dealings with community pharmacies. The program expanded its services to reach greater population by sharing tools and resources via the college’s website which can be utilized by any institutions or organizations wanting to adopt a similar program to help the public or a targeted population to help better understand the U.S. healthcare and pharmacy system.

Program Mission

The mission of the Pharmacy Ambassadors program is to provide high-quality pharmacy services to an underserved population. We strive to increase public's knowledge of the U.S. health-care and pharmacy system by providing an educational presentation.
