Nicole Cartwright Kwiek, PhD

Nicole Cartwright Kwiek, PhD, Director

Nicole Kwiek is the assistant director for Educational Outreach at the Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. Kwiek is also a clinical assistant professor in the divisions of Pharmacology and Medicinal Chemistry, teaching undergraduate and pharmacy students in basic pharmaceutical sciences. She received her BS in Biochemistry from Ohio University and PhD in Pharmacology from Duke University. She also worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Duke Center for Science Education. She is the lead administrator and teacher in the College of Pharmacy's Pills, Potions, and Poisons science enrichment program for high school students. In addition to her teaching, Kwiek helps to lead the Generation Rx Initiative, a learning community of Ohio State faculty, staff and students studying the problem of prescription drug abuse.


Katie Summers, PhD, Assistant Director

Katie Summers is assistant director of the Generation Rx Lab and a postdoctoral fellow in the Pharmacology Education and Outreach group at the Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. She received her BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences and PhD in Pharmacology from The Ohio State University. In addition to running educational programs in the lab at COSI, Summers teaches in the College of Pharmacy and participates in the Generation Rx Initiative.

The best part about working in the lab at COSI is being able to interact with new people on a daily basis and teach them about safe medication use. It has been a wonderful experience for me, and I just hope our participants get as much out of these activities as I do.
