Ohio State Pharmacy ranked sixth in the nation

The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy is pleased to present University of Pittsburgh Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology’s Edwin Jackson, PhD on Tuesday, April 12, 4:00 p.m., Room 111, Lloyd M. Parks Hall, 500 West 12th Ave. Jackson’s talk, “Discovery of a New Class of Non-Canonical Nucleotides: From the Kidney and Back Again,” is part of the 2016 Distinguished Lecture series.

The Ohio State University is pleased to present its spring Pharmacy Day on Saturday, April 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lloyd Parks Hall 500 W. 12th Ave.

The program is an career exploration event for high-school and current undergraduate students interested in any clinical health care or research career in pharmacy, medicine, nursing, optometry and many other fields. Pharmacy Day gives students and their families a first-hand look at what it means to study the pharmaceutical sciences.

The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy will host its annual Research Day on Thursday, April 7 from 11:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Biological Sciences/Pharmacy Library, 496 W. 12TH Ave and the Room 115 of the Biomedical Research Tower, 460 W. 12TH Ave.

The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy is pleased to present distinguished lecturer William Evans on Thursday, March 24, 11:30 a.m., Room 103, Lloyd M. Parks Hall, 500 West 12th Ave. Evans’ talk, Pharmacogenomics: A Foundation for Precision Medicine,” is part of the 2016 Milap Nahata Distinguished Lecture series.

Though 5-year survival rates for children with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) have improved dramatically from 1975 to 2010 (from 20 percent to 70 percent), advances in survival rates have stalled since then. But new data uncovered by Ohio State University College of Pharmacy pharmacogenetics researchers  suggest that genetic variants affect the way chemotherapy is transported through the system, making the case for more personalized therapies. Christina Drenberg (Guttke), PhD, was the first author on a study that was published in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics.

The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy is pleased to announce that Peixuan Guo, PhD, has been selected as the first Sylvan G. Frank Endowed Chair in Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery Systems. Guo, one of the top nanobiotechnology experts in the world, will join the college in January. Guo was recruited in collaboration with Ohio State’s Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute (DHLRI) and will hold a joint appointment in the College of Medicine’s Department of Physiology & Cell Biology.

The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy invites applications for a position at the rank of Assistant Professor - Practice responsible for instruction in the second year Professional Practice Laboratory. The candidate will be part of a team of faculty teaching in the Professional Practice Laboratory series and will be a member of the Division of Pharmacy Practice and Administration. The position will report to the Director of the Professional Practice Laboratory.

A collaboration born out of desire for international academic sharing has yielded important findings that could shade our understanding of cancer treatments in the future.

Ethiopian Ermias Mekuria Addo, a graduate student from the School of Pharmacy, Addis Ababa University with an interest in bioactive natural products, found opportunity to carry out research with medicinal plants native to his country at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy.
