Professor Kenneth Hale, RPh, PhD, was honored with the Cardinal Health  Pillar of Strength Award at its annual pharmacy business conference. Held in Chicago, this year's award was presented by Steve Lawrence, senior vice president of independent sales. Hale was honored for his Generation Rx collaboration with Cardinal Health. A  partnership between Ohio State and Cardinal Health, Generation Rx provides open-source educational materials that anyone can use to help prevent the misuse of prescription drugs. Hale and Lawrence have worked together on the program since 2009 when the two organizations first partnered.
In addition to receiving the Pillar of Strength Award, the Generation Rx Champion Award was renamed in Hale's honor. Each year, Cardinal Health presents the award to a person who is exceptionally dedicated to spreading awareness of prescription drug misuse prevention and sharing the Generation Rx program in their community. The award is now called the Dr. Ken Hale Generation Rx Champion Award.
Hale is co-director of Generation Rx and a clinical professor in the College of Pharmacy at The Ohio State University. He also serves as associate director of the Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Drug Misuse Prevention and Recovery.
