College of Pharmacy Annual Research Day to Feature Jinn Wu, Celebrate Graduate Program’s 75-Year Anniversary
The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy will host its annual Research Day and celebrate its graduate program's 75-year anniversary April 7 from 12:30-4:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Biological Sciences/Pharmacy Library and in Parks Hall 103. This year's keynote speaker is Jinn Wu, PhD, alumnus and vice president and chief scientific officer of WuXi AppTec's laboratory testing division, who will present "Life Prior to, During, and After Studies at OSU, College of Pharmacy."
Research Day is an opportunity for faculty, staff and students of the college to present research projects and findings and network with other faculty and students. In addition to presenting their work, a poster competition for trainees will take place with cash awards for best posters in multiple categories. The Ohio State University Center for Clinical and Translational Science will also give an award to a presenter for best clinical or translational science.
The day’s schedule is as follows:
· Poster viewing and judging: 12:30-2:30, Biological Sciences/Pharmacy Library, second floor
· Dessert reception: 1:30-2:30 p.m., Biological Sciences/Pharmacy Library, second floor
· Dr. Wu’s lecture: 3-4 p.m., Parks Hall, room 103
· Awards ceremony, 4-4:30 p.m., Parks Hall, room 103
Before Wu joined WuXi AppTec in 2014, he was the president and chief executive officer of XenoBiotic Laboratories, Inc. (XBL), a contract research organization specializing in providing bioanalytical and metabolism services to the pharmaceutical, biotech and agrochemical industries. Wu founded XBL in 1987 and sold the company to WuXi AppTec in 2014.
Wu received his PhD from the college’s Division of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy in 1979. His advisor at Ohio State was the late Dr. Jack Beal. Wu was awarded the college’s Jack L. Beal Postbaccalaureate Award, an award the college presents to an outstanding postbaccalaureate alumnus or alumna, in 1994. He also served as a member of the Advisory Committee on the college’s Dean’s Council from 2007-2013.
