Dr. Cynthia Carnes, was named a Fellow of the American Heart Association, Council on Basic Cardiovascular Sciences, at the annual Scientific Sessions 2008 meeting in New Orleans, LA. Fellowship is for scientists and physicians with a major and productive interest in cardiovascular basic sciences, and recognizes excellence in the field and volunteer service to the American Heart Association.
As an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Administration, Dr. Carnes has an active research program in cardiac arrhythmias, with a specific focus on atrial fibrillation, the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia. In addition, she is a Specialty Practice Pharmacist in the Antiarrhythmic Monitoring Clinic at the Ross Heart Hospital at the Ohio State University Medical Center.
Dr. Carnes also continues to serve as a grant reviewer for the Cardiac Electrophysiology section of the American Heart Association. She is currently the Vice-Chair of the Research Steering Committee of the American Heart Association’s Great Rivers Affiliate, one of the eight regional association affiliates.
