BSPS Curriculum – before AU 2015

Overview

The BSPS curriculum includes a general education (GE) curriculum, core sciences classes, required BSPS major classes, and BSPS elective courses. 

The information below is for students beginning the BSPS program prior to the Autumn 2015 term.  This includes students beginning during the 2014 - 2015 academic year and before. For information for students beginning BSPS during Autumn 2015 and beyond, please visit this page.

General Education (GE)

Composed of courses designed to give students a well-rounded education. Disciplines include:

  • Arts and Humanities
  • Foreign Language
  • Social Science
  • Writing

Core Sciences & Math

Composed of natural sciences and mathematics:

  • Calculus
  • General Biology
  • General Chemistry
  • Human Physiology
  • Organic Chemistry
  • Physics

BSPS Required & Elective Classes

Includes six required classes in pharmaceutical sciences:

  • Biomedicinal Chemistry
  • Integrated Pharmacology
  • Introduction to Pharmaceutics
  • Medicinal Chemistry
  • Pharmaceutical Distribution & Health Care Systems
  • Pharmaceutical Sciences Laboratory

Students must also complete 10 semester credit hours of BSPS electives in order to graduate. Students choose 10 hours from a list of courses related to pharmaceutical sciences, found on the BSPS Degree Requirements document.

BSPS incoming class stats:

  • 61 percent were in the top 10 percent of their graduating class
  • 29.4 average ACT score for incoming BSPS students
  • 28 BSPS scholarships were awarded
